PLEASE NOTE: Round 1 of the application process has closed. Please contact the office with further questions.
- Written Application: The application deadline has passed. JOI will accept late applications, but we cannot guarantee that we will consider them. The written application consists of a resume and a cover letter. Emailed applications are preferred -- send them to Stephanie Cruse at scruse@jewishorganizing.org. Please attach the cover letter and the resume in separate documents. The cover letter should address the following questions:
- Community organizing means developing leaders and bringing people together to form powerful organizations that allow people to act on their own behalf to make systemic changes in their lives. Community organizers are people who want to stir things up to motivate people to act for change, who embrace challenge, and who think strategically about power. Tell us why you want to learn or deepen your skills in organizing as a method for social change.
- Why do you want to learn organizing in a specifically Jewish context?
- Please include the names and contact information for three references that are familiar with you and your professional, volunteer, or Jewish experiences. Please do not send the names of family members, or of teachers or professors if they only know you in an academic context.
- Also, please let us know how you found out about JOI.
- Phone Interview: On a rolling basis once applications are received.
- Applicants who pass the written application stage will then participate in an individual phone interview conducted by a JOI alum, fellow, or staff.
- JOI Group Interviews and Matching Events: Candidates who passed our phone screening were invited to a two-day Group Interview and Matching Event on April 13-14.
- JOI may hold a Summer matching event on Sunday June 15th for those applicants who apply late. This second event would also be an interview and matching opportunity for those applicants who are unable to attend the April event.
