Job Description
Title: Community Connector
Reports to: Elihu Miles, Director of Operations & Partnerships
Building Impact Overview:
Building Impact is an innovative non-profit pioneering a new model for significantly increasing
community involvement in Greater Boston and beyond. Building by building, we are mobilizing
a movement of hundreds of companies and thousands of people to volunteer, give and get
connected to the most important social issues in our communities.
By delivering volunteer and giving opportunities to the buildings where companies and
individuals live and work, we break down barriers to engagement and turn civic desire into civic
action. With strength in leadership and entrepreneurial vision, Building Impact is guided by a
critical mission to:
• Engage companies and individuals in meaningful community involvement activities
• Harness their collective volunteer energy, goodwill and philanthropic resources and
• Channel 100% of these new resources (and engagement) directly to our network of
over 20 non-profit partner organizations
Building Impact is currently operating in 46 office and residential buildings in 15 local
communities and working to engage over 300 companies and 12,000 individuals. The
organization is aggressively growing by launching into a significant number of new office
buildings and residential apartment communities over the next three years.
Position Description:
The Community Connector is a program staff position responsible for overseeing program
design, program delivery and community impact measurement within a portfolio of Building
Impact buildings. The Community Connector serves as a community resource to companies and
individuals and is tasked with building a grass roots effort to increase community involvement
among building tenants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Design
-Design program activities such as volunteer events, donation drives and educational
events with other Building Impact team members
-Manage relationships and collaborative events with Building Impact’s group of nonprofit
partner organizations
-Coordinate marketing and communication of program activities to companies and
individuals in buildings
Program Delivery
-Build and manage relationships with Building Impact’s multiple stakeholders within a
specific portfolio of buildings: building staff (i.e. property managers, property
coordinators), “Building Impact Ambassadors” at tenant companies, individuals working
within the buildings and individual building residents in apartment buildings
-Manage ongoing communication with stakeholder groups mentioned above
-Execute and manage on-site program activities across portfolio of buildings
-Utilize program activities and strategies to cultivate and drive program users to deeper
and meaningful levels of community involvement Who we are and who we want:

In addition to being a team player and a natural relationship builder, it is
important that a candidate possess the following experience and skills:
• B.S./B.A. preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to build energy and momentum among groups of people
• Capacity to develop and implement new concepts and strategies
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage and organize time
• Works well in both team and independent work environments
• Flexibility and acceptance of both traditional and progressive business environments
• Demonstrated ability to lead a community or corporate project to success
• Demonstrated experience and success in non-profit program development and growth
• Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office and contact management,
with proven ability to learn new software applications
• Demonstrated success in leadership role
• Ability to add a personal perspective to program

Student Labor Action Project Coordinator
Jobs with Justice and the US Student Association are seeking a Student Labor Action Project (SLAP) Coordinator.
SLAP, a joint project of the US Student Association and Jobs with Justice, is designed to assist youth and student activists organize campaigns and build power to defend and expand workers' rights and economic justice.
Objective: SLAP is seeking a full-time Coordinator to provide technical assistance for student activists through conducting trainings, developing materials, coordinating national days of action and networking as well as learning opportunities.
Responsibilities and functions:
Create technical support, educational and leadership development materials for student activists; Organize and Conduct Direct Action Organizing Skills trainings and workshops; Coordinate the Student Labor Week of Action which highlights the birthday of Cesar Chavez and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Memphis Sanitation worker struggle; Plan and Staff USSA and JwJ Conferences with specific SLAP components; Assist students with building relationships with local union, community and faith-based leaders and groups, this includes JwJ local coalitions; Work with national student and labor organizations on implementing SLAP's Program. Desirable skills: Student Organizing Experience; Some experience with labor organizing strongly preferred; Experience developing and implementing programs and relating to different organizations; Strong written and verbal communication; Preferred computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access The position will require some travel as well as night and weekend work.
Compensation: A competitive salary and benefit package including health care, vacation, sick-days, etc.
