Written Application: The written application consists of a 1 page resume, a cover letter and 2 optional references (see below to download the JOI recommendation form). Applications will be considered without completed recommendation forms however greater consideration will be given to those that include references. - Please attach the cover letter and the 1 page resume in separate documents. Your file names should use the following format: Firstname_Lastname_CL and Firstname_Lastname_Resume
- Have your two references mail or email their JOI recommendation forms directly to Rebecca Herst at the address below or at rherst@jewishorganizing.org. If sent by email, please use the following format: Applicantfirstname_Applicantlastname_Recommendation.doc [JOI Reference Form, Word Doc].
Cover Letter: The cover letter should address the following questions:
- Community organizing means developing leaders and bringing people together to form powerful organizations that allow people to act on their own behalf to make systemic changes in their lives. Community organizers are people who want to stir things up to motivate people to act for change, who embrace challenge, and who think strategically about power. Tell us why you want to learn or deepen your skills in organizing as a method for social change.
- Why do you want to learn organizing in a specifically Jewish context?
