*Marketing and Fundraising Associate , New Israel Fund (Newton, MA)

Marketing and Fundraising Associate wanted. The New Israel Fund (www.nif.org), a nonprofit organization supporting disempowered populations in Israel through grassroots initiatives, seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) program and fundraising associate for its New England office, located in Newton, MA. This position will support the local branch operations of a progressive national organization. NIF is committed to supporting Israel’s non-profit organizations in civil and human rights, bridging social and economic gaps, supporting religious pluralism, and protecting the environment.

Responsibilities include educational event planning and coordination, community relationship building, writing and editing for marketing and publicity, donor relations, data management, support of fund-raising operations, and maintenance of computer database. Familiarity with and interest in Israel is mandatory. Hebrew language skills are a plus. Excellent presentation, writing, communication, attention to detail and organizational skills as well as flexibility are required. Salary commensurate with experience – non-profit experience preferred. Minimum of 3 years of college is preferred. This position will continue during the school year, but summer interns will be considered. References required.

*Community Organizing Director, JP Neighborhood Development Corporation (Boston)

This is a highly responsible position that reports to the Executive Director.  The Community Organizing Director is responsible for overseeing organizing campaigns to win significant community improvements and build the power for JPNDC constituents, contributing to the revitalization of the neighborhood.  The Community Organizing Director will work with staff in all departments to help integrate an organizing approach into all aspects of the JPNDC.  This position will require supervising community organizers and playing an important role in the agency’s planning activities.  The Community Organizing Director will work with members of the JPNDC’s organizing committees and the Board of Directors, as needed, as well as with a diverse constituent base.

*Fundraiser, Amartya (Buenos Aires)

Background -. Amartya is a social enterprise that seeks to promote business models that are both socially and environmentally sustainable. We are an organization specialized in Social Research and Social Responsibility based in Buenos Aires and Sweden since 2005.

Since its very beginnings, Amartya's organizational structure has integrated two distinct but complementary business models. One is a for-profit organization that offers consulting services in the areas of Social Responsibility and Development to the private sector, multilateral organizations, and the public sector. The other is a non-profit organization working on Social Investigation and the development of Social Projects.

Amartya's goal is to merge these two structures to create a new, highly professional and socially oriented organizational model committed to values. We have named this new organizational model the Social Enterprise of the Fourth Sector. ( www.amartya-ar.net)

 Duties –The candidate will have the overall responsibility for the fundraising strategy of the organisation. Duties also includes to maintain contact with international and national foundations and funders, write project descriptions, calculate project budgets, and help writing project reports.

Preferable skills and qualifications:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Ability to communicate and write in Spanish
  • Relevant professional experience with an emphasis on fundraising in an international context, or experience with humanitarian work will be welcomed.
  • Minimum degree; preferably in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in budgeting and financial monitoring,
  • Understanding of international donors system
  • Knowledge of the Argentine system and civil society

The person is expected to assume duties in July 2007. Salary and other conditions will be specified.

*Community Organizer, Somerville Community Corporation (Somerville)

We are looking for an experienced community organizer to join our staff.  The organizer’s work will be part of SCC’s broader anti-displacement agenda, with a sharp focus on affordable housing.  We strongly encourage bilingual applicants (English with Portuguese, Spanish, or Haitian Kreyol).  The community organizer will work closely with the 3 person organizing team, as well as with the broader 13 person staff.

 Somerville Community Corporation (SCC) is a 38-year old community development corporation based in the City of Somerville.  SCC invests in building the leadership of people in Somerville who currently have little access to influencing public policy or economic trends.  We view resident leadership as the glue that holds our community together, and provides both the experience and necessary insight to best inform housing, economic and service strategies that will ultimately build a stronger and united Somerville. *Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU, Area Director (Mass.)

The Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU, the largest doctors' union in the U.S. represents 12,500 resident physicians in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Florida, Puerto Rico, New Mexico and California. In addition to traditional union concerns, CIR/SEIU has a strong history of patient advocacy.

We are looking for an Area Director to oversee the Massachusetts Region. This position reports to the Director of Field Services.

The Massachusetts Region currently represents 750 resident physicians working at two teaching hospitals, Boston Medical Center and Cambridge Hospital. CIR/SEIU is an organizing union that seeks to grow its membership in Massachusetts and nationally.

Massachusetts Stand for Children seeks two outstanding Organizers in order to expand its impact for children. The Organizers will support existing Stand for Children Community-based Teams and be responsible for starting new Teams. The Organizers’ primary responsibilities will include meetings to recruit potential volunteers; training and coaching
member leaders to build new Teams and strengthen existing ones; managing issue research; coordinating meetings with elected officials; and mobilizing members to win key issue and election campaigns at the local and state level.
