The National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) is a national organization dedicated to increasing access to abortion for low-income women and girls across the U.S. Founded in 1993 by 24 grassroots abortion funds, NNAF now includes 108 funds in 42 states. NNAF works to build the capacity of our member funds to provide direct assistance to women seeking abortions and also conducts national and state-based advocacy to ensure that those most in need – low-income women, women of color, and young women – have access to abortion and full reproductive health care.

NNAF is a social justice organization and is committed to diversity in both its programmatic work and staffing with regard to race, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, physical ability, age, gender, and sexual orientation.

Internal Communications and Member Support:  Coordinate communications among grassroots member funds of the Network through the twice monthly listserv and the members-only website; develop vehicles for interactive communication among member funds.  Assist member funds with development of communication tools.

Advocacy and Campaign Coordination:  Work with Executive Director to build and maintain relationships with ally groups working on reproductive rights and larger social and economic justice issues.  Coordinate and provide staff support for advocacy programs at the national and state level, including coalition campaigns to broaden access to reproductive health care for low-income women, women of color, and young women.

Qualifications:

-Commitment to abortion access and full reproductive health care for all women; commitment to women’s rights, social, economic, and racial justice.

-Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to produce highly  polished written materials.

*Workmen's Circle Secular Torah Study Group (Boston, MA)

For alums: "Miss doing weekly text study ... Join us to reconnect to weekly, secular Torah Study and discussion - led by a JOI alum!"

Wednesday evenings, starting November 8th 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Drawing on the long standing tradition of communal study and reflection, the Workmen's Circle Adult Education Committee is excited to embark on this new group-centered model of Jewish learning.  Join other Workmen's Circle members and friends to learn from, deconstruct, and challenge these traditional Jewish texts and explore what they mean and how they can inspire us in our modern secular lives.

We are very excited to welcome Chava Hassan to serve as our study leader.  Chava spent several years studying Jewish texts in various Orthodox, Conservative, and post-denominational yeshivot.  She then went on to receive a Master's degree in Hebrew literature from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she took an academic and critical approach to the same body of texts she had previously studied from a religious angle.  After finishing up a year long fellowship with the Jewish Organizing Initiative, Chava just began working as a community organizer for the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA).

Starting date:  Wednesday, November 8, 2006, and continuing on the Wednesdays of: Nov. 15, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, and Dec. 13

Place:  Workmen's Circle Building, 1762 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA.

Course Fees:  $60.00 for WC members; $75.00 for non-members.

Pre-registration is required, because the course is dependent on enrollment.  To register contact the WC Office at (617) 566-6281 or circle@workmenscircleboston.org

The Workmen's Circle is a thriving secular Jewish community that combines Jewish culture with a commitment to social and economic justice
